People asked this questions over emails "can I play the game even though I didn't watch the movie?".
My view, of course, you can play the game, the only difference is the player who watched the movie might feel the connection. But my opinion is that you can play since I didn't watch the movie while I first started playing the game. Trust me this game might take a long time to complete like other games. But if you are a horror genre fan this is probably the best game for you. If you don't like science fiction movies related to aliens than this probably not the best game for you.
Alien Isolation is a survival horror game developed by the creative assembly. If you don't know about creative assembly. They are the developers who created the total war series which sold over 20 million copies. The connection of this game to the movie takes place after 15 yrs, Amanda Ripley daughter of Ellen Ripley the protagonist in alien(1979) film is investigating the disappearance of her mother.
Is what I find is the main connection the game is based on the film.
This game has received positive reviews and has sold over two million copies. the game is awarded Bafta awards for audio achievements and best audio at game developer choice awards.
So let's talk about how interesting the game is, first of all, the character is a first-person perspective which will make you feel like you are in the game. The game focuses on various encounters with hostile humans and androids. Android was the creepiest part I found about because they were designed for creating human lives easier but if you find the white eyes one android then you are safe but when the eyes turn red means you are a threat to them and you should either evade or destroy them with guns or else you will be dead.

Developers designed the game in such a way that it emphasises evasion over direct combat by providing limited ammunition. Now you might say "oh that's it, so what the scary part in it?"
This is where the horror parts arrive, the main antagonist is an alien creature who will hunt you down like insect. And the sad part is that you can't kill it, that is what the intensity of the game comes.
Your only choice is to evade or hide. Even the tiniest sound can bring the creature to you.
You have a motion tracker which shows the movement of the alien so that you can stay far away from it as possible. The motion tracker won't detect if the alien is hiding in ducts. Use the motion tracker on your own risk because if the alien gets closer to you and the sound of the motion detector is heard it will come at a speed you can't outrun. the moment the alien notices game over.
The only weakness it has is the fire which you can use to scare it but can't kill it.
The creature will come from anywhere mostly from ducts. So be ready to get some jumpscare for sure while playing it. The developer effort in creating horror environment is definitely proven by many fans including me. It has been released on different platforms like ps3,ps4, Xbox 360, Xbox one and windows. The only drawback I found was the game is too long and will take more time to finish it which in turn is a good thing because the jumps scares never ends.
